Pastoral Letter – May 2026
Dear friends,
We know that our world is groaning and we are caught up amid many global conflicts, local strife and endless bad news. However, I want to remind us that we are called to be people of Hope and to follow the Risen Lord Jesus. This Good News, which we hold onto, has passed every test thrown at it, and so we can confidently remain standing on the foundation of Jesus Christ. We remember some of the last words of Jesus:
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” – John 14:27
We have been given such an incredible gift – and this is a gift that the world can never match. I encourage us to remain steadfast and keep our eyes fixed on Christ.
Events happening in our Church
On the 16th May we will be celebrating the Centenary of the Women’s Auxiliary. This is a truly remarkable milestone, and we honour the women who have made this happen.
The women’s ministry in our church continues to lead by example and they challenge us to look beyond the walls of our buildings. The recent Lent drive is a prime example, where the WA motivated us to collect bags filled with clothes. As a church we have managed to pass on over 70 bags to those in need.
- 50 bags of assorted clothing to the Marsh Memorial Home
- 3 bags to the local Safe House
- 3 bags to Hospice at Living Hope
- 7 bags to Happy Valley Shelter in Simonstown
- 4 bags of children’s clothes to the Open Door Project in Ocean View

Appointment of new leaders
As you are all aware, we lost our friend and church Treasurer, Jeremy Christensen, in February. We are still grieving his loss and experience as a society steward, but we are so grateful to Rob Mulder who has been approached to stand as our Treasurer. Rob comes with a lot of experience and is willing to continue the good work started by Jeremy and Dennis Clark.
Kgomotso Lefifi has also come on board as a steward, as well as Malcolm McCormick, who has been approached to be one of the Circuit Stewards. We are grateful for their willingness to be part of the team.
In another new development, Kim Linscott will help to minister in the Children’s and Family Ministries of our church. She will be stepping in to assist the various teams and portfolios in these ministries, as well as help coordinate the church camp. Kim will be sharing 15 hours a week with the church, and we look forward to her ministry in these departments.
Church Camp
We have put out the date of the Church Camp later in the year (14-16 August 2026) and we really urge you to join us for this special weekend. There will be times of worship, small group conversations, outdoor activities, delicious meals and much more. Please commit to attending, even if you only come as a day visitor – we believe that this weekend could be a great blessing for our church.
Just to note that our Sunday worship service on the 16th of August will take place at Rocklands Campsite. There will be no services at the actual church venue that day. At the moment, the cost is going to be around R990 for the weekend, which includes accommodation, 6 meals, tea/coffee etc. We will confirm this soon, but please start saving for this weekend – thank you.
New Members Welcome Service
We plan to welcome all new members on Sunday the 17th of May. If you have not yet been officially welcomed, please try to attend one of the services that day. It is good to have you as part of our church family.
Circuit challenges
Sadly, our colleague, Rev. Mokuena has been placed on Pastoral Leave for the next 3 months, due to family reasons. We ask for prayers for his family, as well as for the Ocean View and Kwazondelelo societies, as they go through this difficult season. Please also pray for the Circuit leadership as we navigate through the rough waters.
Annual Church Synod
Just to note that our Circuit Ministers and Stewards will be attending the annual Synod from the 25-31 May. This is taking place in the Tygerberg Circuit.

As we head into the season of Pentecost, We pray that the Holy Spirit would fill your hearts with Christ’s love and that we would be strengthened through his grace.
