Pastoral Letter # 3

Fish Hoek Methodist Church

Pastoral Letter – August 2025

Fish Hoek Methodist Church

The month of August is traditionally remembered as Women’s month and as a Church we plan to honour all women through a special time of ministry. The team from Ruth-2 have a wonderful music ministry and they will be sharing in a Ladies Conference, on the theme of “Unmask” – this will be on the 9th of August. Please note that bookings are essential for catering and planning. You can contact Les-Lee on 078 677 3452 for more details.

On Sunday the 10th of August we will combine our 2 morning services, for a time of worship, which will be led by the Ruth-2 team. This service will take place from 9am. Please can we remind all members of this time change and that there is only ONE service that day. Thank you.

The Kids camp will also be taking place over this weekend (8-10th). It will be hosted at the Rocklands campsite, and we pray for all our kids involved in this wonderful time of fun and teaching. Please also pray for the leadership team that will be overseeing the weekend. Contact Tim Hoffman for more information.

Our Mission team will be heading up to Springbok on the 7th of August, where they will be working at Huis-Harmonie until the 13th of August. We thank you for your generous support in this project and we trust that our practical help will uplift the lives of the residents there. We will be taking up a lot of blankets, quilts and warm clothes for the residents and carers. Your help in this regard is much appreciated and we are sure these will bless the folk in Springbok.

We hope to update the church with photos via the WhatsApp group, so please make sure that the office has your cell phone number. We also ask for your prayers over this Mission and for each member of the team.

These are the people heading up to Namaqualand:

Delme and Kim Linscott, Mike and Natasha Wessels, Jo, Carl and Lisa Bottcher, Peter and Carolyn Axmann, Richard Peens, Kgomotso Lefifi, William Pirri, Bruce Brock, Lilian Ralton, Doug Morgan, Owen Pistorius, Rob and Karen Mulder, Justine Tinker and Daryl Faure.

The month of August will close out with a weekend Silent Retreat, which will be led by Errol Gray. There are 8 people attending this time of prayer and spiritual renewal – it will be over the weekend of the 29-31 August.

Remembering our call to a “Pilgrimage of Renewal”, we prayerfully ask that God guides our entire community and that we are revived through the work of the Holy Spirit.

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.” – Colossians 3:23

Living in Grace

Delme, Kim and family.

“Christ has no body but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours.
Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassionately on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.
Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands.
Yours are the feet.
Yours are the eyes.
You are his body.” – Saint Teresa of Avila
