Opening prayer
Lord Jesus, you came to earth to offer us true freedom and release from the captivity of sin and death. It is through our personal experience of this freedom and renewal of Spirit that we pray for all who are still victims of abuse, slavery and persecution. You are the ultimate bondage-breaker; both in a spiritual and physical sense. We ask that your light would shine in all corners of darkness in our land. We pray this in Jesus name. Amen.
Reading
Jeremiah 23:1-3
The Righteous Branch
23 “Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. 2 Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: “Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done,” declares the Lord. 3 “I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number.
Closing prayers (for others)
We pray for all victims of abuse, trauma, human trafficking and modern slavery.
Benediction
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all, now and evermore. Amen.
