Letter: Re-opening of Worship Services
8 February 2021
A blessed Holy Week to you all.
It may seem strange receiving a Pastoral letter on April Fool’s Day, but I felt I wanted to wish you all a blessed Easter before the weekend runs away from us. May the message of the Cross and the Empty Tomb dawn upon us in a new and dynamic way this year. Let us remember God’s great love for humanity and the sacrifice of His son, Jesus.
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.” – John 3:16 (The Message)
Regarding our services over the Easter weekend, please note that the Good Friday service (9am) is now fully booked, as well as the 8:30am Resurrection Sunday service. There is still some space at the 10:15am service on Sunday, but please book ASAP. The following services will be online, so please pass this information onto anyone who may be missing out on our in-person gatherings: Tenebrae, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. Our website is still found at www.fhmc.co.za
Audio recordings (podcasts) of the Holy Week services have also been made available and are now uploaded onto the website, as well as the Facebook page. Again we encourage you to make use of these tools if you aren’t able to attend church this weekend.
Good Friday offering – just a quick reminder that we support the Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary with our entire Good Friday offering. This financial assistance goes a long way in equipping future ministers of the Gospel.
We are grateful for the easing of the Covid-19 restrictions and we are hopeful that we can continue to worship in a “semi-normal” way in the near future. Of course, last year taught us all that things can change very quickly, but we trust in God’s leading going forward. After Easter we will continue with just the 2 morning services until further notice. Our online ministry team will also continue to share the services, sermons, bible studies and other resources via the website.
Thanks again for your loyal support of the church during these uncertain times. May you have a restful Easter weekend and experience the peace of the Lord.
