Call to Worship – Psalm 8

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

Prayer

Lord, in your great mercy you have invited each one of us to feast at your table of grace. We accept that offer with gratitude and joy, asking that your Spirit would fill us with the resources of heaven. May we know your presence as our generous host, and may our fellowship be a great blessing to all who worship with you. Yours is the glory, honour and fame. In Jesus name. Amen.

Prayer for others

Today we join in prayer for those who have lost loved ones recently and for those struggling with grief in these days of uncertainty and change. We also ask for strength for teachers, pupils, parents and all those impacted by the turmoil in Education and learning. Finally, we pray for the many silent women and children abused by their loved ones and by those in their communities. Lord, in your mercy. Please hear our prayer. Amen.
